Privacy Policy

Caloro · Effective 2026-10-18

Caloro ("we", "the app") helps you estimate calories in food from photos. This policy explains what data the app collects, why, and what your rights are. We designed the app to collect as little as possible.

Who runs the app

Caloro is operated as a sole proprietorship by Yotam Shapira, based in Israel. For any privacy question, including requests to access, correct, or delete your data, or to request our full postal address, email hello@caloriecam.app. We respond within 14 days.

What we collect

Camera and photos

The app asks for camera and photo-library access only to let you capture or choose a food or menu photo to analyze. Photos are not accessed in the background, are not scanned for anything else, and are not uploaded until you tap the analyze button on a specific image.

Who processes your data

We do not sell your data. We do not share it for advertising. We do not track you across other apps or websites.

Subscription data

If you subscribe to Caloro Premium, we store your subscription status, plan type, and expiry date in your account profile. This data comes from Apple via RevenueCat's webhook and is used solely to determine whether to show you Premium features. We do not store your payment method or billing details.

How long we keep it

Account data and meal history are kept until you delete them. Food photos are retained with the corresponding meal entry so you can see what you logged; delete the meal to delete the photo.

Your rights

You can:

Cookies and local storage

Caloro uses only strictly necessary cookies and browser local storage — the kind needed to keep you signed in, remember your referral code if you came from a creator link, and let the app function. We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking, Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any similar third-party analytics or marketing trackers. We do not sell data to data brokers.

Specifically, the following are stored in your browser's local storage on first use:

You can clear this storage any time by clearing site data for caloriecam.app in your browser settings; you will be signed out and will need to log in again. On the iOS app, the equivalent is reinstalling the app.

Children

Caloro is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, please email us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we materially change this policy, we will update the effective date above and notify active users in-app.

Disclaimer, accuracy, and limitation of liability

Caloro provides estimates, not medical or nutritional advice. The calorie, macronutrient, portion size, and food identification results shown in the app are produced by an artificial-intelligence model analyzing a photograph. They are inherently approximate and can be wrong. You should not rely on them for medical decisions, treatment of any condition, weight-loss plans, sports nutrition, allergen avoidance, or any other purpose where accuracy is critical.

If you have a medical condition (including but not limited to diabetes, an eating disorder, food allergies, kidney disease, or any condition where diet matters clinically), or if you are pregnant or nursing, consult a qualified healthcare professional or registered dietitian before making dietary decisions. Do not use Caloro as a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

No warranty. The app and all information it produces are provided "as is" and "as available," without any warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including without limitation warranties of accuracy, completeness, reliability, fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that estimates will be accurate, that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any specific health, fitness, or weight outcome will result from using the app.

Assumption of risk. You use Caloro voluntarily and at your own risk. You are solely responsible for decisions you make based on information the app provides.

Limitation of liability. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall Caloro, its operator, contributors, or service providers be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, health outcomes, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, the app or any information it provides — even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the app is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the app in the twelve months preceding the claim, or (b) US $10.

Indemnity. You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Caloro and its operator from any claim, demand, loss, or damage, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising out of your use of the app or your violation of these terms.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitations of liability for consequential or incidental damages; in such jurisdictions, the above limitations apply to the maximum extent permitted by law.
